Zak’s Yoga Club
At Little Zak’s Academy we’re dedicated to providing the best environment and experiences for children in their early years of development. That’s why we’ve introduced Zak’s Yoga Club. It is a complimentary program that promotes positive benefits designed for children aged 2-5 attending our service. We believe all children have the right to experience the benefits of Yoga, so we’ve incorporated it into our learning program at each centre. Here are some of the key outcomes of Yoga for children.
Learning and Development The mindful practice of Yoga is associated with learning, memory and regulating emotions. It helps children process what they are learning and aids their perspective. Yoga for young children uses relaxation based on experience, breathing and imagination that has long term effects and fear reduction in children. It helps children cope in the education environment and the physical exercise of Yoga helps children’s ability to learn. Children gain positive high quality life.
Enhancing Physical Flexibility Learning and development has never been so much fun, as children learn to use all of their muscles in creative Yoga poses. Yoga for children helps to promote their physical strength and they become aware of their body and how it functions.
Refining Balance and Coordination Yoga teaches mental and physical balance. Refining these skills allows children to improve their physical and emotional balance. Once a child has achieved balance through practice, failure and success they will be filled with a sense of accomplishment. Yoga for children also helps with the development of their gross and fine motor coordination.
Developing Focus and Concentration The act of practicing poses encourages children to clear their mind and focus on the effort. As a result of this single focus to achieve a particular pose or stay balanced, yoga helps children to build techniques helping them with concentration in school and everyday life.
Boosting Self-Esteem and Confidence Yoga supports character development and emotional intelligence as well as enhancing team skills and social interaction. Yoga promotes self-control of the whole body whilst supporting individuality and self-expression but most of all it inspires respect for others and self. This has enormous benefits for a child’s self-esteem.
Health and Well-Being Yoga strengthens the mind-body connection by exercising the physical body and calming the mental spirit. It improves children’s ability to reduce their stress and contribute to a highly positive balance in life. It improves resilience, mood and self-regulation.
